Russia is a huge country, that’s why in some parts summer is longer and warmer, in others – shorter and colder. In Moscow region warm weather begins in May, but according to the calendar summer starts in June. Though recently June has got colder than May.

And June is usually rainy. July is the hottest month in Moscow region. In August days are still rather warm, but nights get colder and colder day by day. Russian rivers are always rather cold, so one can happily swim only in July, and in the beginning of August. Russians like to go to the country in summer – to their dachas, camping…
fresh air, no noise, no civilization, just wild life… We live in wooden houses, without hot running water (actually without any water, running water is only outside), no drains, no central heating (nights are rather cold in August in Moscow region - 8-10 above zero), no internet connection… But most Russians like countryside with its huge forests, rivers, grass, birds, squirrels, foxes, hedgehogs... Deep in the forest there are lots of wild animals, luckily, wolves do not come close in summer! Some people also like going camping and sleep in tents. Russian nature is good for a soul and for a body. Russians like such activities - boating, fishing, picking up berries, nuts and mushrooms in the woods. Barbeque is also a pastime for Russians, because Russia is a cold and rainy country, and we can make barbeque only 2-3 months a year.
