Women in the military have a history that extends over 4000 years into the past, throughout a vast number of cultures and nations. Women have played many roles in the military, from ancient warrior women, to the women currently serving in conflicts.
Serving in the army differs from country to country, some have a contract system, some have it obligatory for the male population. In some countries it’s obligatory for both sexes. In Russia serving in the Army is obligatory only for males.
One can't see a guy with a gun on the beach or in the street in Russia, but it's not only the surprise, which attracts Russian girl's attention. Russian girls have liked officers and military men since the time being, because the word 'military man' has always had associations with such notions as 'strength' and 'defence'.
My sister is a doctor, dermato-venerologist. She has graduated from Moscow Medical Institute (Medical Academy nowadays). She has been managing dermatological branch in Moscow dermato-venereologic clinic for more than 10 years. She is really a good doctor, smart and experienced. Besides, she is a beautiful woman and has a big heart. She has always been kind to her patients, and the colleagues respect her a lot. By russian measures she is financially-secured, because she lives and works in Moscow (commercial and business center of Russia) and has a good position. But what she can afford is only a one-bedroomed flat, a car and a nice rest - she loves travelling. While in the US, highly-experienced doctors are among the most financially-secured people.
In Russia up to nowadays the most common family type is the one in which wife is the family Treasurer; husband will give her the money he earns and... this is the limit to his authority over money matters. It is not vital in a Russian family, who cooks, cleans and does the washing and who earns the money. Each tries to meet the requirements of a specific situation. Spouses make roughly equal contribution to the family budget. The attitudes of modern russian women towards money vary. Some follow the principle 'don't put off till tomorrow what you can spend today', others plan, how much and for what purpose to spend in minute details. The disconcerting Russian life makes the woman plan thoroughly the family budget: the wages day used to be fixed and this allowed it to plan 'from the one wage to the next one', so to say; nowadays nobody feels confident about the day to come, and Russian women have learnt to save for a rainy day.
I've graduated from Moscow University by Lomonosov, philological faculty. Being a philologist I've tried quite a lot of professions. We registered a newspaper and began doing journalism. At first it was a local newspaper, and we mostly covered local news and business. But later our newspaper turned into regional, and then we decided to register another edition for Moscow.
I've read a very interesting article lately about russian strippers: men for all tastes. Some people despise them, some admire. Strippers themselves say being a stripper is just a job, like anything else.
